Omaruru

The Creative Centre

Welcome to Omaruru, a bustling little town nestled on the banks of the River by the same name. Our beautiful town of about 11,000 inhabitants has a vast variety of flora, fauna and old buildings from the German Colonial era.

Whether it is the serene surroundings, or the river which runs through it, even in the rainy season Omaruru continues to attract a large variety of artists.

From wood carvers, to painters and photographers, to goldsmiths, jewel carvers and paper-makers, Omaruru certainly has a wide variety of crafts to offer, with its wares being exported as far as Sweden, Germany and the United States.

To this end Omaruru is holding an Arts, Music and Culture festival every year, this year on the 2nd and the 3rd of October. We tout it as “The Namibian Cultural Experience.” Go to the activities page to learn more about it.
